Bar #1 - Veranda Bar, Sheraton Music City Hotel

The Veranda bar is a larger than your normal hotel bar and it’s active. Frankly, it’s because there’s really nothing else around the hotel.

The bar itself is open in the early afternoon. But it always busy because of conventions and people checking in and out. The bar is adjacent to the hotel lobby.

There was at least two different groups meeting when I was there on a Saturday.

The hotel is close to the Nashville airport so the people are diverse. You get travelers, business people, convention goers, etc. In fact, that’s how I first got to know the bar. I stayed at the hotel during (I think) a debate tournament.

The drinks are pricey but that’s because of a people staying at the hotel tend to have a little money or an expense account. Also, (once again) a lack of bar competition is a factor.

The bar’s two biggest pluses: the comfortable seats and the free wifi.  The table seats are very comfortable. You can literally sat in those seats for hours. Give me a blanket, a pillow, and an iPad and I could be there all day.

The other benefit is the free Wi-Fi. The Sheraton lobby has free Wi-Fi and you get a really good signal in the bar area. Now the connection speed might be slow depending on the time of day.

It is a nonsmoking bar, but there is an outdoor patio where you can light up. They have domestic and imported beer and top-shelf alcohol and you can order food from the restaurant next door.

This is not a neighborhood bar, but it is not a bad place to kill some time if you happen to be in the area or are you staying in the hotel.
